Christine Sciulli is a New York based video installation artist. Her current body of work, ÒIntercepting PlanesÓ, has developed through solo show sand projects at Causey Contemporary Gallery, AC Institute, Frederieke Taylor Gallery and, as well as group shows at Smithsonian affiliate Annmarie Garden and at the Islip Art Museum where Janet Goleas descrived her installation to be Òa quiet riot of controlled chaos.Ó She was the recipient of a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Grant to produce a roving outdoor video installation, Intercepting Planes X. Sciulli was nominated to submit for the American Academy of Arts and Sciences 2010 Invitational Exhibition.
She has worked as a video artist in theatre, collaborating with Phantom Limb at Dartmouth CollegeÕs Hopkins Center Residency and at Mass MoCA. Sciulli has collaborated with Mabou Mines on the waterfront production of, ÒSong for New York: What Women Do While Men Sit KnittingÓ, and participated in their Sundance Institute Theatre Lab Residency at White Oak, Florida. Her video collaborations with composer Doug Geers, have been shown widely at European and American festivals.
Her 2005 solo show at Causey Contemporary (formerly Chi Contemporary), COVER, was a Village Voice Shortlist Choice: "projections...imbued with fresh, though enigmatic, meaning through intelligently deployed technology (RC BAKER)." Christine Sciulli holds an Architectural Engineering degree from Penn State, and a BFA/ MFA from Hunter College. SciulliÕs work is part of the New MuseumÕs Rhizome ArtBase (Rhizome.org). She is represented by Causey Contemporary.
